DTN - Guides

This area of Discover The Networks examines the mainstream media's enormous influence on societal attitudes in the United States and elsewhere around the world. The RESOURCES column on the right side of this page contains links to the sections where profiles of key media personalities and organizations can be found. It also contains a link to a "Movement Media" section, which features individuals and groups that openly pursue radical -- even Marxist or socialist -- agendas and, in some cases, view themselves as “political organizing tools” for the left. Finally, the RESOURCES column contains links to articles, essays, books, and videos that explore such topics as:

  • the degree to which news-media professionals – reporters, editors, anchors, publishers, correspondents, bureau chiefs, and executives at America's major newspapers, magazines, and broadcast networks – are preponderantly leftists and Democrats;
  • the extensive degree to which a large number of establishment media people worked with Hillary and Bill Clinton in an effort to ensure Hillary's victory in the 2016 presidential race;
  • anecdotal, yet highly representative, examples of leftwing media bias;
  • the destructive nature of false news stories that are reported and widely disseminated without proper fact-checking;
  • efforts to purge conservative voices from the media by reinstating the Fairness Doctrine or by other, similar measures;
  • how the media commonly distort facts, in an effort to protect the reputations of leftists;
  • public broadcasting and its biases;
  • how and why America's major media have tended to cast the U.S. government’s anti-terrorism efforts in a decidedly negative light;
  • the media's overwhelmingly negative coverage of the Iraq War;
  • the strong and consistent anti-Israel bias of international media outlets;
  • how the left uses the Internet to promote its agendas;
  • the extent and influence of Soviet espionage in the American press during the 1940s; and
  • the media's historical blindness to the evils of Communism.
