ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON KAMALA HARRIS

* Around the time that California Attorney General Harris decided to run for the U.S. Senate in 2016, she declared that the paperwork which conservative organizations like the Americans for Prosperity Foundation (AFP) had been filing for years in California was insufficient, and she demanded that those groups provide the state's government with lists of their major donors. But her initiative failed, as National Review Online reports: “AFP convinced the federal district court that Harris’s request served no legitimate purpose and was part of a political campaign by Democrats against conservative organizations. It demonstrated, among other things, that government agencies had 'systematically failed to maintain the confidentiality of Schedule B forms' containing donor information and other financial data.”

* In a display of unusually crude language that many observers viewed as an attempt by Harris to raise her public profile among Democrats, the senator in May 2017 intentionally used profanity during a sold-out taping of the podcast “Pod Save America,” co-hosted by former Obama administration officials Jon Favreau, Dan Pfeiffer, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor. “What the f*ck is that?” Harris said, regarding a Republican congressman's recent comments on healthcare.

* During a Senate hearing in June 2017, Harris was rebuked by some of her colleagues when she repeatedly interrupted testimony by Department of Homeland Securit
Secretary John Kelly and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. At another point in the proceedings, Harris questioned former FBI director James Comey after the latter had recounted an instance when he and President Trump had been alone in the Oval Office and Trump had said, regarding an FBI investigation of his former National Security Adviser Mike Flynn: “I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.” Harris told Comey. “I just want to make a statement that in my experience of prosecuting cases when a robber held a gun to somebody’s head and said I hope you will give me your wallet, the word hope was not the operative word at that moment.”
